We were staying in Vagabonds Youth Hostel, directly across from the venue were were playing at that night - Crescent Arts Centre. It was a great hostel with a couple of spacious common rooms to relax in. We couldn't relax for too long however, as were due to record for Marty Cullen's New Voices program at the BBC at 1pm. We did manage a bit of a practice before this though, much to the enjoyment of the hostel staff and residents!
For the show we recorded two live tracks - Roisín's and Trinken (which are on our EP), and then had a chat with Marty. He was particularly interested in our music as he had never seen our kind of ensemble before, nor had he seen viola played as a main instrument in any sort of folk group. He also asked us about the thriving music scene in Glasgow, which he attributed to the wide access of funding in Scotland.
It was great chatting with Marty and a real pleasure to be on the show, which is to due for broadcast next Tuesday 5th April at 10pm.
