I am delighted to be involved with Glasgow Fiddle Workshop, which takes place in Glasgow Kelvin college, runs twice a week, and offers a range of traditional music classes to beginner, intermediate and advanced learners. Now celebrating its 25th year, it has expanded and there are not only lessons on fiddle, but also guitar, mandolin, and much more. There are even slow sessions run by the workshop, to encourage beginners to play outwith the classes.
What I really love about GFW is how much of a community it is. Before all the adults classes begin, there is a "very slow session" for adults in the foyer of the building, during which all the kids classes take place. There are tea and biscuits served, and tutors, learners and parents have a good catch up before the session wraps up and everyone splits up into the various adult classes. The classes then go on for two hours, with a break in between for more tea and biscuits! It's a great community to be involved with and I'd recommend it to any learners local to Glasgow.
